Permanent and Longer-Lasting Smiles
Did you know that 1 in 6 adults over the age of 65 have no natural teeth remaining? This startling statistic also means the rate of serious health problems also increases because of the connection between tooth loss and heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and other common health conditions. At Dental Innovations, we don’t want you to become a statistic. Instead, we want you to embrace the possibilities of a complete, healthy smile by choosing implant dentures in Mesa. While traditional dentures can replicate the look of a smile, they cannot offer the same as implants, which is the ability to mimic the natural tooth structure from the root to the crown.
With the help of our in-house oral surgeon, you can stay in one convenient location to receive start-to-finish treatment, making the process easier than ever before! If you’re ready to schedule an appointment to learn more about implant dentures, call us today!

What Are Implant Dentures?
Consisting of titanium posts that look similar to screws, implant dentures are a superior option for tooth replacement. Viewed as the gold standard, they are surgically implanted into the jawbone for maximum support and durability. Making it possible to increase bite force and chewing power, you can enjoy eating all your favorite foods and never worry about your implants slipping or falling out.
But dental implants are not just for the rich and famous. Although they do cost more upfront than traditional dentures, you’ll actually save money in the long run. In fact, more than 3 million people have found these unique prosthetics to be a cost-effective and longer-lasting option than regular dentures. Because you won’t need to worry about regular appointments with your implant dentist in Mesa for relining or replacing your posts, you’ll save a tremendous amount of money over the years.
Another interesting aspect about implant dentures apart from their increased stability and cost-effective nature is that you can choose between a fixed or removable denture – the choice is yours!
Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures
If you want a permanent solution that cannot be removed unless by an implant dentist, you’ll want a fixed denture. Using between 4 and 6 dental implants, a customized denture will be created and secured to the top of your implants.
Removable Implant Dentures
Should you wish your dental to be removable, it is possible to inquire about an overdenture. This type of restoration only requires between 2 and 5 implants and is held in place with clips or ball sockets. This allows you to remove your denture at night to thoroughly clean it. You do not need your dentist to remove your restoration.
The Implant Denture Process
The implant denture process takes time, so you’ll need to commit to the treatment plan and adhere to any instructions provided to ensure thorough healing takes place. Unlike other dental practices, you will be expected to go elsewhere to have your implants surgically placed; however, because of our in-house oral surgeon, you can stay here at our Mesa location and continue to receive the same great care from our compassionate and exceptional team of professionals.
To begin, you will schedule a consultation with a member of our team to discuss your eligibility for implant dentures. If your jawbone is not strong enough, you may be required to undergo bone grafting to strengthen the weakened areas of your smile.
Once you’re given the green light for surgery, you will arrive the day of your procedure and receive local anesthesia to numb appropriate areas and ensure you feel no pain. After making small incisions in your gums and carefully placing each implant into the jawbone, we will close the gum tissue and send you home to heal for anywhere from 3-6 months. Osseointegration will need to occur, which is the process of the implant fusing with the bone and tissues. Once this is complete and you are fully healed, you will return to receive your metal abutments, which are connector appliances that attach the restoration to your implants. The last step is receiving your customized restoration, which will be created to give you a natural appearance that looks and functions just like regular teeth.
Am I a Candidate for Implant Dentures?
There are three things you will need to have to receive implant dentures. These are:
A strong jawbone that can serve as a stable foundation for your implant denture. If you choose to have a removable denture, the density of your jawbone is not as important because there are fewer implants that need to be placed.
Good general oral and overall health, as a compromised immune system can make it more difficult to heal and cause your implants to ultimately fail. You’ll need to show no signs of tooth decay, gum disease, diabetes, and you’ll need to kick the habit if you smoke.
Committing to a good oral hygiene routine ensures your new teeth will remain in optimal shape to avoid the potential for gum disease.
Even if you think you’re not a qualified candidate, it’s best to leave that decision to our trusted professionals. At Dental Innovations, we will go above and beyond to help you achieve the smile of your dreams and offer additional solutions to help you get there with implant dentures.
